11+
The 11+ is an exam taken by some school pupils in Year 6 (either September or January, depending upon school they are applying to). Even though most of the children will still only be 10 years old when they sit the tests, they will be 11 when they start in Year 7, hence the term ‘11+’.
At Bolton Tuition Centre, we tutor the students for the English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning papers, and even offer 4 mock tests from October until January which helps the students with their exam technique and timing.
When should we start this course?
As students sit the exams near the beginning of Year 6, we recommend that students attend from at least the beginning of Year 5 as this will give us the opportunity to teach all of the aspects required in a reasonable amount of time. Some students have started with us when they reach Year 6, but their pass rate is lower than those who have attended for some time.
Course Structure
Students work on a combination of the four subjects required for the 11+ exams in every lesson. In our locality, the focus is usually on the following areas:
Students are provided with 11+ books for homework and encouraged to speak to the teachers about any areas which they are finding difficult.
We offer online practice, practice papers, written activities and even games to encourage and stimulate the students, enabling them to produce a higher standard of work during their actual exams.
